Seattle-native Aubrey Violeta Gelpieryn first became interested in journalism in the spring of 2015, when she she reported on gentrification in the floating home community.
She relocated to Washington, D.C. to attend American University and major in broadcast journalism and political science. She began as a producer for the international breaking news show "In Question," before transitioning to line producing the political commentary show "Watching the Hawks." She spent the four years alternating between Washington D.C. and Seattle, reporting and offering her opinion on a variety of topics before moving to Tucson to be a local TV news producer. In Tucson she covered a variety of breaking and long-form stories including: the outbreak of COVID-19 globally and locally, the George Floyd Protests, the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the 2020 Election. You can view all her stories here. After nearly two years in Arizona, she decided to try her hand at TV and Digital Marketing and moved to San Diego for a year to work as an Associate Account Executive. Currently, she lives in New York where she is as an Associate Producer at CBS Interactive. Aubrey hopes to continue sharing stories with viewers, listeners and readers for as long as she can. She was the Managing Editor for The New Boundaries Project, which reported on stories about the #MeToo movement in partnership with NBCWashington.com. Interested in seeing more personal posts?
